FAQ.

Q-What are the prices for notarizations only?: A- Acknowlegement: $6.00 for the first signature plus $1.00 for each additional signature on the SAME document. Jurat: $6.00 per signature, including oath or affirmation. Certified Copies: $6.00 per certificate (This applies to non public or non recordable documents only).

Q-Are traveling costs included with notarization fee's ? A- No. Traveling fee's are an additional fee. Though a special arrangement can be made to include them. You need to discuss this with the notary public your dealing with.

Q-Can a notary give legal advise ? A- Not unless they are a licensed attorney also.

Q-What types of ID are acceptable? A- State issued drivers licenses or state issued ID's or a US passport

Q-Can a notary notarize a will ? A- Sometimes. Each states laws are different. In Texas, A notary should notarize a document described as a will only if clear instructions and a notarial certificate is provided. If the signer of the will is relying on the notary for advise on how to proceed, the notary should tell the individual to consult with an attorney. (Tx notary law primer 8th edition pg 7)

Q- Can a notary public certify a copy of a death or birth certificate ? A- No. This is a public record or a publicly recorded document. Only an officer in the bureau of statistics should certify a copy of a birth certificate or other public records document.     (Tx notary law primer 8th edition pg 10)
